Welcome to Elect Michele with One L Martin's Website

As Newark experiences rapid growth, we need leadership that ensures development benefits all residents—not just outside investors. I will advocate for thoughtful zoning, infrastructure improvements, and strategic planning to preserve our small-town charm while welcoming new opportunities. Growth should mean better roads, services, and resources—not overcrowding and strain on our infrastructure.
We Need Smart Growth & Responsible Development
With my background in finance, sales, and leadership, I know how to attract the right businesses that align with our community's needs. I will work to bring in businesses that create good jobs, increase our tax base, and keep our dollars in Newark. By supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses, we can maintain a thriving, self-sufficient local economy.
Which Requires Economic Development & Local Business Support
Newark is more than a town—it’s a community. I will fight for stronger public safety measures, better emergency services, and improved city resources that enhance our daily lives. From better roads and drainage to parks and recreation improvements, I am committed to making Newark a place where families can thrive for generations to come.
But Above all Community First: Safety, Services & Quality of Life

Serious Solutions
Hi Neighbors!
I’m Michele with One L Martin, which is a name my husband started calling me during his podcast 15 years ago as a way of introducing me to his fans and well, it just stuck!
I never thought about running for City Council but I feel like I just had to get involved and below are some of the reasons why. But first, a little about myself.
I'm a proud resident of Newark with deep roots in small-town values. Growing up on a hog farm in Ripley, Oklahoma, I learned early on the importance of hard work, responsibility, and community. I was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for four years before graduating from Ripley High School. From there, I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Oklahoma State University, which laid the foundation for a successful career in business and leadership.
With a strong background in finance and sales, I spent nine years in banking before transitioning into a 20-year career in sales. Today, I’m the Director of Sales Training and Development for Envision Radiology, where I focus on leadership development and business growth. I understand how critical economic development and responsible planning are—skills that will help Newark continue to thrive as our community grows and evolves.
For nearly nine years, I’ve been proud to call Newark home. It reminds me so much of the small-town spirit that shaped my upbringing. My husband, Comedian William Lee Martin, and I have been married for almost 13 years, and together, we have a beautiful, blended family of five children and five grandchildren.
I’m committed to representing all of our residents equally, advocating for smart growth, and ensuring that Newark remains a strong, connected community for generations to come.
I look forward to working together to keep Newark a place we are all proud to call home!
We love our house, you, our neighbors, and I want to do all I can to make a Newark for all and not just for some.
Won't you join me? On May 3rd, please Vote for Michele with one L Martin for Place 4 on the city council.
Sincerely,
Michele Martin

Why are you seeking this seat?
I’m running for City Council because I care deeply about Newark and want to help shape its future. This city has been my home for almost nine years, and I want to give back to the community that welcomed my family and me. Newark is growing, and we need leaders who will protect what makes our town special while planning smartly for the future. I believe in service, listening to others, and making decisions that help families, businesses, and neighborhoods thrive. I want to bring my experience and energy to the table to make sure Newark stays strong, safe, and a great place to live.
What makes you qualified?
I grew up on a hog farm in Ripley, Oklahoma — the kind of place where you learn early the value of hard work, the importance of community, and that your word means everything. I was active in FFA and proud to graduate from Ripley High School before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Oklahoma State University. Those small-town lessons, along with my education, built the foundation for everything I’ve done in my life and career. I’ve built a strong and steady background in finance, sales, and leadership. I spent nine years in banking and have more than 20 years of experience in sales, working for both large corporations and small businesses. Along the way, I’ve gained hands-on knowledge in budgeting, planning, problem-solving, and leading great teams.
Today, I’m proud to serve as the Director of Sales Training and Development, where my focus is on growing leaders and businesses with integrity and heart. Life has blessed me with a wide range of experiences — I’ve helped run a small business, started a nonprofit foundation, and worked alongside professionals from all walks of life. I’ve learned to embrace change, especially as technology and industries evolve, and I’m always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to help people and organizations thrive. But the heart of my story isn’t just about work — it’s about family, faith, and community.
In 2010, of all things, I fell in love with a comedian — William Lee Martin — and together we built a big, beautiful, blended family of five kids, five grandkids, and two terrific dogs. In 2010, love also brought me to Texas, and nearly nine years ago, we planted roots in Newark. My husband and I even started a foundation together, focused on serving others and making a positive impact. I’m a proud servant leader who believes deeply in rolling up my sleeves, giving back, and helping people become the very best version of themselves. I’m committed to seeing Newark grow in a way that’s smart, balanced, and always centered on the people who call it home. My life has been shaped by hard work, strong values, and deep care for others — and I’m ready to bring that same heart and dedication to serve the city I’m proud to call home.
What are the top needs of your entity at this time?
Newark is experiencing rapid growth, and we need to manage it wisely. Our top needs include thoughtful zoning and infrastructure improvements to maintain our small-town charm while embracing new opportunities. We must support local businesses to create good jobs and keep our economy strong. Enhancing public safety, emergency services, and city resources like roads, drainage, parks, and recreation is essential. By focusing on these areas, we can ensure that Newark remains a place where families thrive for generations to come.
